In January 2009 Dances With Dogs competitions
and titles were instituted by the ANKC. Dances with
Dogs competitions provide handlers and their dogs with an opportunity to
demonstrate a skilful, choreographed routine, performed to music. Dances
with Dogs encompasses two separate divisions: Dances with Dogs Freestyle
and Heelwork to Music.Titles include
Starter, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Champion in each of the two
divisions. Titles are written after the dogs name and designate by
initials the appropriate division e.g. a dog having been awarded
Intermediate title in the Dances With Dogs Freestyle division would have
DWDF.I after their currently designated name. In the case of a dog
achieving Champion status in Heel To Music this would be designated by the
initials HTM Ch in front of their name and if a conformation Champion
would be designated Dual Ch (HTM) in front of their name etc.
